The story
About the project
Located in Roorkee, close to Haridwar, this hotel welcomes travellers and pilgrims seeking rest. Its name, derived from a chant dedicated to Lord Rama, became the starting point for our design narrative—From Royalty to Exile.
Inside the project
A walk through the spaces
01Guest suite with a framed view across the lake 02Stone pathway winding between hillside pavilions Drawing from this journey, we paired royal finesse with rugged textures and earthy colours reminiscent of the forest. Refined details meet a more grounded material palette, bringing richness and restraint into balance.
03Dining pavilion with a cantilevered timber deck The story unfolds through considered gestures. Motifs inspired by the solar plexus chakra appear in varied forms, while restaurant artwork depicts the ghats of Haridwar. Above the buffet, 108 pendant lights trace the shape of a bow. In the guest rooms, deep neel and golden hues draw from traditional depictions of Rama’s skin and attire.
These references reveal themselves gradually, allowing the interiors to be experienced both as a layered narrative and as a welcoming retreat. A hotel rooted in its cultural context, designed for the comfort of a diverse gathering of guests.
