The story

About the project

The Courtyard House turns inward to create a private landscape at the heart of a dense urban plot. Every living space opens onto the central garden, so the home is filled with filtered daylight and natural breezes throughout the year.

Inside the project

  • 01Living room opening onto the central courtyard garden
  • 02Timber stair with filtered light from a brick jali screen
  • Exposed brick, lime plaster and reclaimed timber give the house a quiet, tactile character, while deep overhangs and operable screens keep interiors cool without mechanical systems.

  • 03Roof terrace overlooking the courtyard and city skyline
  • 04Roof terrace overlooking the courtyard and city skyline
  • The plan is deliberately flexible: sliding partitions allow the ground floor to open into one continuous space for gatherings or close down into intimate rooms for everyday life.
